The application effect of hot roller heating in the production of polypropylene filament yarn (FDY)

In the polypropylene spinning equipment, the heating roller is a key component, and its heating method directly affects the production stability and operating costs. The traditional heating rollers mostly adopt industrial frequency induction heating, which has two obvious drawbacks: one is that the heating ring is prone to damage, and the other is that during the heating process, it is easy to cause the temperature of the central rotating shaft of the motor to rise, thereby leading to generator failures. This problem is not uncommon in actual production and has brought additional pressure to equipment maintenance. 

In the production of polypropylene FDY spinning machines, the hot rollers are critical components that operate continuously. The choice of heating method not only affects product quality but also relates to the equipment's lifespan and maintenance costs. Currently, the common diameters of hot rollers are Φ160, Φ180, Φ190, Φ210, and Φ220, with a length range of 200-450mm, a rotational speed of 750-5500m/min, and the surface temperature control range for the guide wire disc is 140°C to 240°C. The surface treatment methods include hard chrome plating and ceramic plating. 

The traditional power frequency induction heating method has two major problems in practical application: first, the heating ring is prone to damage frequently; second, the induction heating can cause the temperature of the central rotating shaft of the motor to rise, resulting in motor damage. Both of these situations will lead to unplanned shutdowns and increase maintenance costs. 

After adopting the fully digital control of the electromagnetic heater, the aforementioned problems have been alleviated. This method can make the surface temperature distribution of the working area of the hot roller more uniform, meeting the temperature consistency requirements of the FDY spinning processes for industrial fibers and civilian fibers. At the same time, the heating efficiency is improved, energy consumption is reduced, and it helps to control production costs. 

In terms of equipment protection, the electromagnetic heater does not cause an induced heating effect on the motor shaft, ensuring the safety of the motor operation. The electromagnetic coil has a long service life and is not prone to damage, reducing the costs of spare parts replacement and manual maintenance. The system structure is simple, operating smoothly under high-temperature conditions, and can meet the requirements of different fiber FDY spinning processes. Overall, for polypropylene FDY filament production enterprises, this is a solution that achieves a balance between stability and economy.
