On October 23rd, the third expanded meeting of the 27th Council of the China Textile Engineering Society was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

The meeting focused on learning about the outline for conveying the spirit of the 11th National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology and the "Five-Year Action Outline for the Vitality Project of the Organization Construction of the China Association for Science and Technology (2026-2030)".

Vou Guangwei, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee and the president of the China Textile Engineering Society, pointed out in his speech that the 11th National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology held in July this year clearly stated that it is necessary to enhance the systematic research capabilities of scientific innovation, improve the overall efficiency of the national innovation system, promote the deep integration of scientific and industrial innovation, and open up channels for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into real productive forces. The construction of a team of young scientific and technological talents was also regarded as a strategic project, and comprehensive efforts were made to cultivate, attract and utilize talents. The 11th National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology pointed out the direction for the work of science and technology in the new era and the work of the association. To implement the spirit of the 11th National Congress of the China Association for Science and Technology, the key lies in implementing it in the specific practices of the society's work. The society should examine its own work with a higher standard, identify the gaps and fill the shortcomings, and take solid steps in the process of building a world-class society.

Regarding the key tasks of the society in the next stage, Vou Guangwei put forward four requirements: First, strengthen political guidance and firmly believe in innovation; second, focus on the integration of scientific and technological innovation and open the channel for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements; third, do practical work in talent services and build a full-cycle talent cultivation system; fourth, expand international cooperation and enhance the ability to participate in global science and technology governance.

During the meeting, the 2026th 167th session of the "Scientists' Party Lecture" was held. Chinese Academy of Engineering academician Xu Weilin delivered a vivid party lecture to the participants on the topic of "Textiles are an important force promoting social progress".

The director of the Society Evaluation Department of the China Association for Science and Technology Service Center, Zhang Weilin, shared a talk titled "Practices and Thoughts on Building a First-Class Society" based on society construction. She systematically interpreted the new situation and new requirements faced by society construction, the current situation of standardized construction of national societies, and the standards and evaluation for high-quality development of national societies. She stated that the China Association for Science and Technology Service Center will continue to provide high-quality services to societies and hopes to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the China Textile Engineering Society to jointly promote the construction of a first-class society.

Vou Guangwei, a member of the Party Committee, vice president and secretary-general of the China Textile Engineering Society, summarized the society's work from January to August this year from 12 aspects: strengthening the leading role of party building in construction, consolidating the political foundation for the development of the society; strengthening the organizational foundation to ensure the standardized and efficient governance of the society; expanding the development channels for members to closely connect with textile science and technology workers; conducting academic exchange activities to promote the academic prosperity of the textile industry; strengthening platform innovation construction to facilitate high-quality development of the textile industry; consolidating the construction of first-class periodicals to promote the high-quality development of scientific journals; fully exerting the role of think tanks and professional advantages to conduct research on textile discipline development and decision-making consultation; deepening the incentive mechanism for scientific and technological talents to serve the development and achievements of scientific and technological workers; conducting continuing education and training to improve the talent training system of the industry; increasing the supply of high-quality group standards to promote industrial technological innovation; creating characteristic science popularization activity brands to serve the improvement of全民 scientific literacy； and deeply practicing international science and technology cooperation to further expand the channels for folk exchanges and cooperation.

During the exchange and discussion session， the participants focused on in-depth discussions on matters such as the "15th Five-Year Plan" for the society's development and proposed many constructive opinions and suggestions on scientific and technological innovation and industrial integration， textile science popularization， academic journals， brand-driven science， talent cultivation， the role of the society， and other aspects.
