Argentina has lifted anti-dumping duties. The Textile Association has taken measures to break the deadlock and help foreign trade enterprises navigate the international market!

On April 8th, the "Third Cao County Hanfu Culture Festival - 2025 Spring/Summer New Product Release Conference" event, organized by the Cao County Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Cao County People's Government, was splendidly launched at the Digital Economy Industrial Park of Cao County E-Shang Town. This event aims to enhance the reputation of "the Capital of Original Hanfu Production" and promote the transformation and upgrading of the Hanfu industry in Cao County.

The opening ceremony of the "Third Cao County Hanfu Culture Festival - 2025 Spring/Summer New Product Release Conference" was jointly organized and participated in collectively by the executive team of the Professional Fashion Model Committee of Shandong Fashion Design Association, teachers and students from Shandong Tourism College, and the Mingjingtai Makeup and Styling Team of Shandong Women's University.

At the opening ceremony, Zhou Jin, the president of the Shandong Provincial Fashion Design Association, specially invited Chen Shiyu, a scholar of fashion history, and the team he leads in restoring clothing and headwear to present the opening show - a display of clothing from past dynasties. Chen Shiyu's team is a significant domestic team dedicated to costume restoration. Over the years, they have undertaken and participated in numerous national-level costume projects, including exhibitions at major museums such as the National Museum, as well as providing historical costume guidance for dozens of film and television programs, including the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, "National Treasures", and the TV drama "The Song of Qingping".

In this event, the team presented the performance "Tracing the Origin of Clothing and Hats, Carrying Forward the Past and Opening Up the Future - Experiencing the Beauty of Hanfu Through the Ages in Cao County", carefully selecting classic works with representative styles from six periods and displaying the original pieces, presenting a cultural feast of ancient clothing and hats to everyone and laying a solid foundation for the future development of the Hanfu industry.


Is there a spring for China's textile exports?


The Argentine government has really sent a big gift to China's textile industry this time! On April 1, 2025, Argentina's Ministry of Economy directly issued Notice No. 351, announcing the termination of the anti-dumping measures on Chinese denim products that had lasted for five years. The original anti-dumping duty of 3.23 US dollars per unit has been directly reduced to zero! This is not a small racket, but a real good!

It should be noted that the products involved in these cases are not any random fabrics, but tweed fabrics with a cotton content of no less than 85%, as well as blended fabrics weighing over 200 grams per square meter (tax codes 5209.49.00 and 5211.49.00). Previously, under the trade framework of Mercosur, these products were stuck tightly. Now, they can finally catch their breath!


Against the backdrop of the Sino-US rivalry, the US has made many obstacles for Argentina, frequently threatening to withdraw its support for Argentina's loans to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), forcing Argentina to "keep its distance" from China. But this time the Argentine government has gone head-to-head - after all, China's currency swap agreement is the lifeline for Argentina's economic stability! Especially when foreign exchange reserves are tight, China's support is simply like a timely help in the snow.

Has the spring of China's textile exports arrived? The cancellation of this anti-dumping duty is simply like "timely rain after a long drought" for Chinese textile export enterprises! It should be noted that although the Argentine market is not particularly large, it excels in stability. Moreover, this policy relaxation is likely to prompt other Latin American countries to follow suit.

More importantly, China's textile industry has always been highly competitive. Now that it is free from the "curse" of anti-dumping duties, its export volume is bound to soar. Especially for those enterprises that mainly focus on denim products, this can be said to be an obstacle with "no door at all"!

In conclusion, this policy adjustment in Argentina is not only a major boost for China's textile industry, but also a signal of the further deepening of economic and trade relations between China and Argentina. In the future, the Latin American market is very likely to become a new growth point for China's textile exports.


Three strategies of the Textile Association to deal with challenges in the international market


On April 14th, the China Textile Commerce Association issued the "Notice on Fully Supporting Foreign Trade Enterprises in Expanding the Domestic Sales Market", aiming to assist textile and garment foreign trade enterprises in responding to international market challenges, achieving a smooth transition and high-quality development from "export to domestic sales", and building a new pattern of "dual circulation" in the textile industry. Sort out the policies of the state and local authorities that support the domestic sales market, interpret them through online and offline training and seminars, set up consultation channels to answer questions, and reduce the institutional transaction costs of enterprises. Conduct research on the domestic market, release the "White Paper on Domestic Textile and Garment Consumption", and guide enterprises to adjust product design and categories according to demand. In collaboration with authoritative testing institutions and industry associations, we offer one-stop technical services such as domestic standard certification to help enterprises overcome the obstacles of standard differences.


Build a diversified domestic sales connection platform
