Manage time, it is better to manage yourself!

In this era of life, we must learn to manage ourselves and become our own CEO.

01

Manage your strengths:

Don't waste energy in areas where there is no talent

Most people think they know what they are good at. In fact, it is more, people only know what they are not good at - even at this point, people often do not know.

However, one must make a difference by relying on his own strengths.

The only way to discover your strengths is to give back the analysis. Whenever you make an important decision or take an important action, you can record your expectations of the results in advance. After 9 to 12 months, compare the actual results with your expectations.

As long as we consistently use this simple method, we can find our strengths in a short period of time (possibly two or three years).

At the same time, comparing the expected and actual results, you will find that you can't do anything. Each of us has many ignorant and talentless fields in which we can't even reach a level of mediocrity.

We should waste as little energy as we can't.

02

Manage how you work:

Why are corporate second-handers often not suitable for being bosses?

To manage yourself well, you need to ask the question: Can I work with others? Still like single-handedly?

If you do have the ability to work with others, you have to ask this question: What kind of relationship do I work with others?

Some people work best as team members. Others work best alone. Some people are particularly talented as coaches and mentors, while others are incapable of being mentor.

The top job requires a decision maker, and a strong decision maker often places his trusted person in position 2 as his advisor.

The consultant is often very good at the 2nd position, but if he changes to the 1st position, he will not be able to. Although he knows what decisions he should make, he cannot accept the responsibility of making a decision.

Other important questions that help me to understand myself include: Do I perform well under pressure, or do I adapt to a step-by-step, predictable work environment? Am I working best in a big company or a small company? There are very few people who work well in all kinds of environments.

Don't try to change yourself, because then you are unlikely to succeed. However, you should work hard to improve the way you work. Also, don't do work that you can't do or do badly.

03

Manage your values:

I’m busy making money all my life, it doesn’t make any sense.

To be able to manage yourself, the last question you have to ask is: What are my values?

Organizations have the same values as people. In order to be effective in the organization, personal values must be compatible with the values of this organization.

The values of the two do not have to be identical, but they must be close enough to coexist. Otherwise, this person will not only feel frustrated in the organization, but also can't do anything.

There is very little conflict between a person's way of working and his strengths. On the contrary, the two can complement each other. However, a person's values sometimes conflict with his strengths.

A person who does a good job can even be said to be a fairly good and quite successful thing - it may not match its value system.

In this case, the work done by this person does not seem to be worth contributing to his life's energy (not even having to contribute too much energy).

In other words, values are and should be the ultimate touchstone.

04

Manage your career:

Successful career is not planned

Most people, especially those who are very talented, have to be at least twenty-five years old to know where they will be.

However, by this time, they should know the answers to the three questions discussed above: What are my strengths? What is the way I work? What is my value?

Then they can and should decide where to invest their energy.

Or they should be able to decide where they are not. Those who already know that they are not suitable for decision makers should learn to refuse to make decisions.

Successful careers are not pre-planned, but when people know their strengths, working methods and values, they are ready to seize opportunities.

Knowing where you belong can make a diligent, capable but otherwise ordinary person become an outstanding worker.

The principle of self-management is very simple, but it requires individuals to do things they have never done before. In fact, self-management requires every knowledge worker to be his own CEO in thinking and acting.
