Common troubleshooting strategies for operational abnormalities of polypropylene spinning machines

Polypropylene spinning machines play a crucial role in the production of chemical fibers. Mastering the correct operation procedures and maintenance methods for these machines is beneficial for the smooth operation of the production line. During the long-term operation of the Polypropylene spinning machines , some abnormal situations are inevitable. The following outlines several common problems and their troubleshooting directions, which can be referred to by on-site personnel. 

Abnormality 1: The frequency of breakage suddenly increases. First, check if the temperature of the spinning box is stable. Large temperature fluctuations can affect the fluidity of the melt. Secondly, check if there is any deviation in the cooling air temperature. Every 2 to 3 degrees change in air temperature will significantly alter the crystalline state of the filament. Also, check if there is any accumulation of carbonized substances on the spinneret surface. This situation usually requires immediate scraping for handling. 

Exception 2: The strength of the finished filament is insufficient. The following steps can be sequentially checked: whether the temperature in each zone of the screw is too high, causing a decrease in molecular weight; whether the filter sand in the spinning component is not compact enough, resulting in insufficient melt shear; whether the temperature of the heating roller has reached the set value, and whether the stretching ratio needs to be increased. Sometimes, fluctuations in the melt index of the raw materials themselves are also influencing factors. 

Exception 3: The silk cake is not formed properly, with protruding edges or collapsed edges. These problems are mostly related to the lateral movement mechanism of the winding head. Check if the sliding of the lateral guiding wire device is smooth, and whether the belt or gears are worn. Additionally, the pressure setting of the contact rollers also needs to be recalibrated. Excessive or insufficient pressure will affect the hardness and flatness of the silk cake's end face. 

Exception 4: The pressure at the outlet of the metering pump fluctuates significantly. Possible causes may include: blockage of the filter before the pump; aging of the sealing rings at the inlet and outlet of the pump resulting in internal leakage; or there is a gap in the transmission system of the pump, which requires checking the coupling and the reducer. 

It is suggested that after each failure is dealt with, the phenomenon, the troubleshooting process and the solution measures should be simply recorded. This will form the fault case library of this workshop, which will facilitate quick reference and handling in the future.
