The Global Footwear, Apparel and Textile Supply Chain Innovation Center was launched

On May 18th, the Global Footwear, Apparel and Textile Supply Chain Innovation Center in Jinjiang City, Fujian Province was officially launched.

The 2025 Global Sports Shoes and Clothing Fabric Trends White Paper was released at the launch ceremony. The white paper was jointly created by Jinjiang International Shoe and Textile City and the trend platform under POP Setting Boundaries. It aims to deeply explore fashion information, integrate the high-quality shoe materials and new materials of Jinjiang International Shoe and Textile City with fashion trends, provide global fashion trend insights for the industry, and help Jinjiang become a trendsetter in the field of sports shoes and clothing fabrics.

In addition, Jinjiang has launched a global footwear and apparel new materials selection roadshow platform. This platform was jointly created by POP Design and the Jinjiang Industrial Design Association. It aims to achieve in-depth connection between global new materials and the footwear and apparel industry in Jinjiang through the platform, enabling new materials to better serve the footwear and apparel brands in Jinjiang. At the same time, it also allows brand demands to drive material research and development innovation, achieving a mutual pursuit between supply and demand sides.

On that day, the designers of the Sports Fashion (Global) Innovation Center signed a collective agreement to move in. As a key supporting facility for the public services of the footwear and apparel industry in Jinjiang, the Sports Fashion (Global) Innovation Center connects the world's cutting-edge design concepts and innovative thinking on one end, and the vast and mature footwear and apparel textile industry system in Jinjiang on the other. It will introduce more high-quality original design resources to the footwear and apparel textile supply chain in Jinjiang. At present, 28 design institutions and over 100 designers have signed up and settled in.

On May 15th, the New Quality Productivity Development Forum of the Polypropylene Industry Chain (Botao 2025) was held in Donghai, Jiangsu Province, which is renowned as the "Crystal Capital". In 2025, the textile industry will face a complex and severe international trade environment. Zhang Qian, director of the Industry Department of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, said that the textile industry will promote high-quality development in a coordinated manner with the new quality of "technology, fashion, green and health", seize the opportunities of consumption transformation in the domestic market, and use the certainty of high-quality development to deal with external uncertainties. Textile enterprises have a vast space for innovation. They should focus on "new products, new models, and new tracks", seek development space in structural changes, and continuously provide high-quality textile and garment products and derivative services for global consumers.

Behind a seemingly ordinary T-shirt lies the innovative breakthrough made by researchers in the application of rare earth functional materials. The "Rare Earth Infrared Reflective Hollow Insulating Polyamide Fiber" jointly developed by the Tianjin Branch of the Rare Earth Research Institute and Tianjin Textile Science has successfully introduced cutting-edge aerospace thermal control technology into the civilian textile field through its unique "reflective insulation + transmissive heat dissipation" dual-effect cooling mechanism. This achievement recently won the "Top Ten Scientific and Technological Achievements" of the China Textile Academy in 2024. The core lies in the innovative construction of a rare earth element ratio model, enabling the fibers to reflect over 90% of solar radiation heat in the 400-2500 nanometer band, while achieving an infrared transmittance of 93% in the 8-13 micrometer atmospheric window, thus creating a continuous active cooling effect.

Third-party product testing data shows that fabrics applying this technology can reduce the perceived temperature by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, and the coolness lasts more than twice as long as the national standard. They still maintain stable performance after 50 washes. Traditional cool-feeling fabrics are like applying sunscreen on the fabric surface, while our technology turns each fiber into a miniature air conditioner. Shi Wenjing, director of the Textile Materials Research and Development Center of the Tianjin Branch of the Rare Earth Research Institute, made an analogy.

The R&D team spent two years breaking through key technologies such as rare earth nano-dispersion and multi-level pore structure design. The pioneering hollow porous fiber form has increased the fabric's breathability by 30% and the sweat drainage efficiency by 40%, while also featuring antibacterial and UV protection functions.
